Missouri鈥檚 drought conditions have increased the threat of wildfires across the state.

鈥淚t makes common sense," Nixon told reporters afterward. "When the leaves get brown, they鈥檙e easier to burn than when they鈥檙e green, and consequently I think the fire challenges we鈥檙e gonna face in the fall stand a chance to be more significant even than they鈥檝e been this summer.鈥�
Governor Nixon also announced that, as part of an emergency program announced last month. The governor also says they鈥檙e continuing to monitor river levels on the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.
