The Illinois Department of Transportation used a full closure during the second phase of its I-255 rehab in Cahokia Heights and Sauget, which wrapped up this past weekend.

The north and eastbound lanes of Interstate 55 and Interstate 70 between state Highways 157 and 159 will close Friday and are anticipated to reopen at the end of the month.

The crash happened July 2023 at the Silver Lake Rest Area off of Interstate 70 near Highland. The bus was en route from Indianapolis to St. Louis.

State inspectors found the exit ramp from Interstate 70 to Interstate 64 had a failed expansion joint. The construction to repair it will last until at least 2025.

Missouri Republicans campaigning for lieutenant governor in the August primary are making it one of the year's most crowded races, including two state senators, an attorney, a county clerk and a businessman.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is expanding I-70 to three lanes each way, with the first 20-mile section expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

The project is carved up into segments. The first section tackled will be a 20-mile stretch in mid-Missouri between Columbia and Kingdom City.

The $2.8 billion project will expand Interstate 70 to three lanes in each direction across the state.

Missouri lawmakers allocated roughly $2.8 billion in May to expand Interstate 70 to three lanes both ways across the state. The entire project is expected to take around seven years.

Included in the budget passed by lawmakers this session and signed by Gov. Mike Parson in June was around $2.8 billion to expand I-70 to three lanes in each direction. On Wednesday, commissioners approved the first steps of acquiring that money.
