Missouri House Speaker Jon Patterson and state Sen. Steve Roberts talked about the special legislative session on the "Politically Speaking Hour on St. Louis on the Air."

While there is nothing in the recently signed legislation requiring buy-in from state senators who represent St. Louis, there is recent precedent in which a lawmaker torpedoed nominations he didn鈥檛 like.

The Senate is expected to approve the bill on Monday. Because the Senate made changes to the House bill, it would go back to that chamber for another vote.

The St. Louis Democrat is running against incumbent Cori Bush to represent Missouri鈥檚 1st Congressional District. Roberts cited a 鈥渃ontinuing pattern of troubling votes鈥� as to why he decided to run against her.

The Senate delay on the map follows a week in which senators spent hours both debating and filibustering possible maps, including holding rare Friday and Saturday sessions.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson announced Wednesday that he was calling lawmakers back to the state Capitol on Monday, July 27, for a special legislative鈥�
